Pipe Lining (CIPP) in Columbia, TN
A resin-saturated liner cured inside the existing pipe, forming a new jointless pipe within it.
Cured-in-place pipe lining pulls a resin-saturated felt or fiberglass tube into the existing lateral and cures it in place with heat, steam, or UV light. The result is a continuous jointless pipe inside the old one, which is why it is effective against root intrusion: roots enter at joints, and the liner eliminates them.
Lining slightly reduces internal diameter. On a four-inch residential lateral this rarely affects capacity, because the smooth new wall offsets the lost diameter with better flow.
Typical cost: $80 - $250 per foot installed
When CIPP pipe lining is the right call
- Root intrusion at joints on an otherwise intact pipe
- Cracks or corrosion in cast iron with the pipe wall still structurally present
- A line running under a driveway, porch, or mature tree worth preserving

Common questions
How long does a CIPP liner last?
Manufacturers typically rate liners at a 50-year design life. That figure comes from the material manufacturers rather than independent field studies, so treat it as a design target rather than a guarantee.
Can every lateral be lined?
No. The host pipe has to be continuous and reasonably round. Collapsed sections, severe offsets, and Orangeburg generally rule lining out.
